Resumen:

In this work, we show an extremely simple experimental setup for analyzing supersonic flow accross a valve or nozzle. It relies on shadowgrahic images, and its correspondence to numerical simulations carried out in Ansys Fluent. We compare Mach wave positions for experimental and simulated data, and extract further information from the latter. This technique could prove useful as a first approach in research laboratories, and also as a classroom assignement for undergraduate physics courses.
