Resumen:

This paper describes the on going long term monitoring process of the superstructure of the San Cristobal bridge after its opening. Structural evaluation of the behavior of the superstructure during the last three years has been carried out based strain records at different sections of the superstructure. Short term monitoring is also achieved by ambient vibration tests and temporary truck loading. The determination and assessment of maximum deflections obtained by means of topographic surveys and tiltmeters are also presented. The paper aims at reviewing stresses at instrumented segments based on results of the short and long term monitoring of the bridge. Short term monitoring identifies the main dynamic structural properties of the superstructure and possible variations of the most significant frequencies. Moreover, results of stresses obtained from recorded strains are compared with those obtained with a finite element model developed by the designer. The acquired experience will be used to design new recording devices and improve data quality and interpretation.
