Resumen:

The fabric of monosized granular media deposited in the gravity field is evaluated. Arrangements of spherical particles with equal diameter in random stacking are simulated by different numerical techniques. A geometric algorithm is used for forming the granular media, and the mechanical interactions among particles are simulated using the distinct element method. The influence of the interparticle friction coefficient on the fabric characteristics such as porosity, pore size, coordination number and geometrical anisotropy is assessed. The media with high interparticle friction coefficient present high porosity, pronounced anisotropy and low coordination number. The influence of anisotropy on the contact forces orientation is also examined. © 2015 Taylor & Francis Group.
