Resumen:

The second harmonic (SH) response of centrosymmetric materials is strongly suppresed at its bulk due to selection rules, but not at its surface. Thus, the surface of the nanoparticles in a composite meta-material may be a source of strong SH radiation, but only if their geometry is itself non-centrosymmetric. We present an effcient scheme for the calculation of SH generation of composites and use it explore the role played by geometry on effciency. © OSA 2014.
