Resumen:

Sodium cobaltate was synthesized, characterized and tested as a possible CO2 captor. The structural and microstructural characterization, by XRD and elemental analysis, indicated a chemical composition of Na0.69CoO1.85 for the synthesized material. The CO2 capture was studied dynamically and isothermally, showing that the Na0.69CoO1.85 is able to chemisorb CO2in a wide temperature range. The major capture was evidenced between 600 and 725°C, with a maximum capture efficiency of 65.3% at 700 °C. The characterization (structural and microstructural) of the analyzed products showed the formation of Na2CO3 and different cobalt oxides. In addition, a cobalt reduction dependent on the temperature was evidenced. Finally, a first order kinetic analysis determined a AH* value of 82 kJ/mol for the CO2chemisorption process. © 2015 The Authors.
