Resumen:

Written in the midst of Mexico's 1982 economic crisis, Denis Goulet's book Mexico: Development Strategies for the Future (1983) advocated a pluralistic development model for the future of this country. By this he meant a development strategy that would combine four elements drawn from different development paradigms present in third world countries: (1) a concern for aggregate economic growth; (2) the redistribution of the economic and social fruits of growth; (3) an allocation of resources centered on satisfying the basic human needs of the country's poorest people; and (4) the promotion of cultural diversity by building on the foundations of tradition. © 2010 by University of Notre Dame Press.
