Resumen:

A deterministic model for optimizing cycle times by means of a non-intensive software-based control approach which provides a sensorless cost-effective solution for monitoring and controlling milling processes is presented. This sensorless single-pass online approach has been applied to the measurement of the cutting force signal in a milling machine, based on the monitor currents supplied by both the servo-amplifiers and the frequency inverter of the spindle. Cycle times were reduced up to 15% during the tests and the system performed quite smoothly and predictably. © 2012 Nova Science Publishers, Inc. All rights reserved.
