Resumen:

NO has an important role as part of the innate host response against bacterial infections. Nitric oxide can interact and damage different cellular structures and kill bacteria quickly. In this chapter we summarize the current knowledge on the effects of NO on the bacterial cellular structures, chemical reactions and transcriptional responses focusing on the most studied bacterial gene response to NO., the Flavohemoglobins. © 2007 by Nova Science Publishers, Inc.
