Resumen:

We present a layout and operational characteristics of an optical switch that performs a cyclic switching of an input port to multiple output ports by means of a metal-clad optical fibre cantilever in oscillatory motion at its natural resonance frequency. The oscillatory motion of the fibre is produced by the force of the alternating electric or magnetic field. The switch is intended for use in large arrays of fibre-optical sensors with binary-type amplitude modulation of optical signals, such as employed in liquid-level measurement and structural damage detection.
