Resumen:

The amplitude of photoacoustic signals in a laser cavity decreases due to the competition of the stimulated emission against radiationless processes and other deactivation pathways. This fact can be used to readily characterize an alignment in the cavity in real time. Real time optimization of the laser can be done by tracking the signal in an oscilloscope searching the conditions for a minimum amplitude of photoacoustic signal. Real time characterization of pulsed laser by detection of the photoacoustic signals presents some advantages with respect to optical procedures. A model is presented for the photoacoustic signal generation based on a semiclassical description of a dye laser.
