Resumen:

A mathematical model for fully 2D flow and bottom movement is presented. The model is used to study the Mezcalapa-Samaria-Carrizal bifurcation. Several flow conditions are tested. With the available data, as a result of the model, the water discharge distribution at the bifurcation does not change significantively for the daily discharges and during floods. However, there is a slight increment of the sediment transport capacity at the Samaria River during floods. © 2008 Taylor & Francis Group, London.
