Resumen:

This article discusses the factors associated with livestock methane emissions. There are feed ingredients, additives, and modifiers in diets that can reduce methane emissions. Global agreements to reduce greenhouse gas emissions are made with groups of industrialized countries, but it is necessary to include more participation from developing countries. The handling of excreta to produce methane through the use of biodigesters can be intensified to make the most economical and efficient generation of energy in agricultural production systems. In conclusion, the emissions of methane, emitted by ruminants, and the use of biodigesters can be integrated together in livestock production systems. © 2014 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.
