Resumen:

We present an optical-fibre refractometric transducer designed for the detection of liquid helium in storage tanks and elements of cryogenic installations. The transducer parameters were optimized for the discrimination between the liquid helium and the gaseous helium or air above it. The predicted signal is of 2.2 dB, which, although relatively small, allows for the detection of liquid-helium and gas interface, and for the measurement of liquid helium level.
