Resumen:

Airflow spinning is a technique that can be used to synthesize or deposit fibers in situ at low cost for a variety of applications, including biomedical materials. The synthesis process requires two parallel concentric fluid streams: a polymer dissolved in a volatile solvent and pressurized gas that is ejected into the polymer solution, creating fibers that are deposited in the direction of gas flow. This chapter is intended to provide an overview of the basic principles and applications of airflow spinning. The first part describes the airflow spinning technique, some advantages and different parameters used in the process for synthesized spun membranes. Finally, we describe the different materials that could be used with airflow spinning technique and some applications in the biomedical field. © 2018 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.
