Resumen:

The impact of clouds on weather and climate is determined by their microphysical properties (i.e., the size distribution, water content, optical properties, and shape). Understanding how these properties evolve requires detailed studies with in situ measurements using a suite of different sensors. This article gives an overview of the different techniques that are used to determine these cloud characteristics and examples of some of the types of information that can be extracted from these data. © 2015 Elsevier Ltd.
