Resumen:

At present there exist two conflicting approaches to evolution, one that we might call ?historical-accidental? associated with ?traditional neo-Darwinism,? with Nature as an opportunistic tinkerer with very few restrictions, and the other that we might call the ?analytical-rational? approach with its emphasis on the restrictions that physicochemistry and complex system laws impose on the possible evolutionary paths. The ?analytical-rational? approach has led to the understanding of important aspects of development, 9, 10, 18and to the presention of a rational taxonomy, 5, 6, 12more restrictive than the usual Darwinian genealogies. However, the impact of the analytical-rational approach on DNA and RNA structure and dynamics has been rather low, and up to a certain degree, this comment is also valid for protein dynamics. The main purpose of the present work is to show that there exist important restrictions on DNA and on immunological protein structure. However, it is important to mention that the ?historical-accidental? and ?analytical-rational? approaches might be different aspects and regions of the same dynamical space. © 1993 by Taylor & Francis Group LLC.
