Resumen:

The Cosmic Ray Observatory in Mexico City is part of the worldwide network of Neutron Monitors; it has been working continuosly since 1990, producing stable and indispensable data to the Scientific community. Therefore it is essential to guarantee its operation and extend its service life. Taking this into account, we designed and built a new DAQ system with state of the art technology. Using programmable logic devices (FPGA) and software running under Linux written in Python we developed a system that is suitable for neutron and muon measurements at the Observatory, and also flexible and easy to use. An interface for pressure and temperature sensor has also been considered. Another important feature of the system is the use of I2C bus for communicating with the computer, thus leaving it open to add new channels. In this paper we present the details of the design and the results of the tests we have performed to the system. © 2013 Sociedade Brasileira de Fisica. All Rights Reserved.
