Resumen:

A new analytical solution [1] is used to calculate stress distributions in the lining of a circular tunnel which will be part of the drainage system of Mexico City. This solution uses specific values of total radial stress measured with pressure cells installed on the primary tunnel lining. The results are compared with stresses estimated following an analysis criterion for final lining of tunnels in soft soils based on the finite element method [2]. It is concluded that stresses obtained from pressure cells and the analytical solution globally agree with those obtained from the design criterion.
