Resumen:

Al/SiC/Rice husk ash (RHA) composites were fabricated by using one step pressureless infiltration. The quantitative effect of processing parameters (Temperature, time, particle size, preform porosity, RHA crystallinity and chemical composition of alloy) on the coefficient thermal expansion (CTE) and electrical conductivity of all fabricated composites was investigated by using Taguchi method and analysis of variance (ANOVA). The results show that at the levels studied for pressureless infiltration of SiC/RHA, the parameter that affects the electrical conductivity and CTE of graded composites most significantly is process temperature with contribution percentages of 22 and 28 %, respectively. Verification tests conducted using the established optimum parameters show a good agreement with the projected values of electrical conductivity and CTE values. © 2016 MS and T16®.
