Resumen:

Bridges are important infrastructure systems that contribute to both the regional and national economy with different relative impacts. As they deteriorate, such structures require specific treatment to keep them operating under safe conditions, depending on their particular contributions to the overall country's economy. Consequently, the maintenance investments for the national network can be allocated based on the bridges' importance. In this work, the inspection times for concrete bridges subject to corrosion are examined as a function of the revenues/cost ratio of the bridge, the balance between the cost of consequences and the bridge reliability is outlined and conservative recommendations are derived to prevent the bridge to become unsafe.
