Resumen:

The necessary studies results are shown to define the executive project of seismic rehabilitation of a 23-story RC building located in the soft-soil area in Mexico City; built in the early 60's in Tlatelolco. Such Tower is united with the foundation of II, III and IV buildings known as Short Buildings. This project was designed according to the 1966 Mexico City Build-ing Code. Differential settlements measures made in the Tower since its construction in 1964, confirmed its tendency to the inclination in the South-West direction; at present it presents a tilting of 100 centimeters (equivalent to 1% of the total height). The conceptual project of the necessary rehabilitation was defined to give an additional structural safety margin, regarding the real state, against collapse due to overturning moment: a site spectrum with a 250 yr return period was used for calculating demands.
