Resumen:

A method of analysis for circular tunnels based on analytical solutions of Einstein and Schwartz (1979) and Perez and Auvinet (2013) is presented. The method allows representing decompression of ground by excavation and short and long term soil interaction with temporary and/or permanent linings. For the case of linings formed by segments, a reduction factor of stiffness (a) is introduced to take into account the effect of longitudinal joints in the rings and reduction of the contact area between segments. Using the method, stress fields in the ground and within the linings as well as mechanical elements acting on the linings can be calculated. © 2016 International Society for Rock Mechanics.
