Resumen:

The formation of new neurons in the adult brain is well documented in many species of vertebrates including rats, mice, hamster, voles, ungulates, birds, amphibians, reptiles, fish, non-human primates and humans. We described how neurogenesis is associated with reproductive functions in many of these species. Neurogenesis is associated with processes such as mate recognition, offspring recognition, sexual behavior, seasonal reproduction inducing long lasting changes that favor the survival of the species. © 2019 Elsevier Ltd All rights reserved.
