Resumen:

Different finite element modelling configurations of smeared crack models are studied in order to determine their suitability for simulating the cyclic response of RC walls. Experimental tests of a real scale RC wall are numerically reproduced, analyzing the influence of different smeared crack approaches, reinforcing steel cyclic models, and mesh sizes. The obtained responses show that an excellent agreement can be achieved in terms of cyclic behavior and energy dissipation. The use of large mesh sizes leads to very successful results with low computational cost, thus opening the possibility of using these techniques to model complete buildings. © NCEE 2018.
