The Neotropical fauna of Megaloptera is composed of 75 species grouped into ten genera and two families. The taxonomy of the group in this region has been focused on the adults, while immature stages have received little attention, despite of the great diversity found in this realm. Currently, the larva of two species of Ilyobius Enderlein, 1910, five of Corydalus Latreille, 1802, one of Chloronia Banks, 1908, and one of Platyneuromus van der Weele, 1909 are described. However, Protosialis van der Weele, 1909 and all Chauliodine members (Neohermes Banks, 1908, Archichauliodes van der Weele, 1909, Protochauliodes van der Weele, 1906, Nothochauliodes Flint, 1983, and Puri Cardoso-Costa, Azevedo & Ferreira-Jr, 2013) remain largely unknown. We provide a taxonomic key to genera whose larva is known, plus a brief account on the morphology and biology of larval Megaloptera of the Neotropics. © 2018 Elsevier Inc. All rights reserved.
