Resumen:

The gut microbiota plays an essential role in the hepatic health because when there is some imbalance, pathological scenarios can be generated. The variations of the microbiota and the bacterial products that it produces are filtered through the intestinal wall into the blood circulation, which trigger proinflammatory and autoimmune responses in the liver. Clinical evidence has shown that addition of probiotics to the diet has favorable effects, since they reduce the production of toxins produced by bacteria, modulate autoimmune responses, intestinal permeability and inflammatory responses; thus improving the liver functions and vital functions of human beings. © 2019 Elsevier Inc.
