Resumen:

Negligence is recognized as the most frequent form of Child Abuse (CA), but because of its clinical and social complexity, it is the CA most difficult to establish an accurate diagnosis, integral care and registration. It is defined as: the failure of a relative or a caregiver of a child to cover his needs for food, clothing, protection, medical care or to supervise his health, education, safety and to protect him from everyday dangers. The basic expression of this form of CA is intentional action of the primary caregiver aimed at not covering in an adequate way the victim of fundamental biopsychosocial needs. The affectations of negligence can be social, emotional and economic. The effect on cognitive function can range from variable degree of neurodevelopmental delay to an affectation of variable degree in school or academic performance. The emotional involvement occurs approximately 80% of them, some mental health affectations such as anxiety and depression. It is clear that CA requires the implementation of a series of preventive strategies of moral, family, social and governmental nature, whose orientation will depend on the specific form in question. This chapter tells us about the psychological, emotional and physical damage caused in children by parents' lack of attention. © 2018 Nova Science Publishers, Inc.
