Resumen:

In recent years there has been a considerable increase in awareness of the impact that the quality of air, water, soil and food has on human health. Of these elements, noise pollution not only affects our health and quality of life, but also our social behavior and cognitive development. Noise can have different effects depending on its type, duration and time of occurrence, and on the sensitivity of the receiver. In particular, recent scientific research has shown that noise can have effects on health, disturbing sleep and promoting psychosomatic illnesses. Therefore, the problem of noise pollution must be addressed decisively and the risks of its effects on human health assessed. ©2009 IEEE.
