Resumen:

The objective of this work is to compare the sintering behavior, mechanical properties and corrosion behavior of Ti6Al4V/TiN composite sintered by conventional and SPS techniques. Composites with 15 vol.% of TiN particles were conventionally sintered up a temperature between 1200 and 1400°C with a heating rate of 10 °C/min, meanwhile, SPS sintering was performed at the same temperature with a heating rate between 30 and 350°C/min. Densification kinetics all along the sintering cycle were estimated in both cases. The microstructure of sintering samples was analyzed by SEM and X-ray diffraction. Mechanical properties were evaluated by microhardness tests. Additionally, corrosion under simulated body fluids was evaluated by Potentiodynamic polarization tests. © European Powder Metallurgy Association (EPMA)
