Resumen:

This chapter reviews the viscoelastic behavior of polyhedral oligomeric silsesquioxanes (POSS)-based nanocomposites, from early research to recent and novel results. A key factor appears to be the increase of free volume afforded by this hybrid nanoparticle whose dimensions average 1.5nm. Strikingly, POSS can induce nonEinstein-like viscosity reduction and entanglement dilution. Rheology is an ideal analytical technique to study the macromolecular dynamics and to assess the influence of POSS on the viscoelastic properties of their nanocomposites. © 2021 Elsevier Inc.
