Resumen:

The current scenario witnessed a boom in the application of composite materials in comparison to their bulk counterpart. Metal oxide composite structures find various applications in multidisciplinary due to their versatile features. Significant attention from the scientific society has been focused on multifunctional mixed metal oxide (MMO) materials, owing to its competitive features in corrosion resistance. The physical and chemical structure of various transition metal oxides (TMO) based on ZrO2, ZnO, TiO2, MoO2, and their composites exhibit multifunctional features. The recent research on thin-film formation from TMO composites adopting different strategies is outlined in this chapter. The MMO coating for corrosion protection is discussed with the involved mechanism. © 2022 Elsevier Inc. All rights reserved.
