Resumen:

This work reviews the fundamentals, synthesis methods, and therapeutic applications of ZnO-based nanomaterials synthesized via green chemistry. ZnO nanoparticles are a very stable compound; when it is nanostructured and incorporated into a material as part of or by itself, its reactivity becomes of interest for medicine due to its therapeutic activity. Recent investigations are opting for the development of alternative routes of synthesis. In the case of ZnO, there is currently intense searching for alternative sources as coordination complexes in biomolecules, fungi, bacteria, and even plant extracts, all toward responsibly using the Earth?s resources. © 2021 Elsevier Inc.
