Resumen:

This chapter addresses the advances of sonochemistry and its application in the synthesis of inorganic nanomaterials. Sonochemistry is an emerging energy source for inorganic nanomaterial synthesis that is quite affordable by adapting conventional reactions or developing new methods. In this text, in specific cases, sonochemical methods are compared with other energy sources seeking a high effect in green chemistry. Subsequently, the relevance of sonochemical methods is examined, highlighting their effectiveness as alternative methods of synthesis. Also, sonochemistry may endow products with specific properties, which are valuable in applied science and technology. Synthesis discussed in this chapter is focused on functional compounds and nanomaterials, aiming their application for catalysis, bioactive principles, and optoelectronics. © 2021 Elsevier Inc.
