Resumen:

The chapter presents an overview of Latin American historiography on love, in heterosexual couples, produced at the centres of Latin American research. Historiographic research on love in the region is situated in the extensive production of the historiography of everyday life at the end of the twentieth century and in the beginnings of the twenty-first century. The role of the popular press as an instrument of sentimental education in stabilising emotional styles of love differentiated by sex, class and ethnicity is highlighted. It deepens the examination of heartbreaks and daily scenarios marked by inequality, migration and violence that provide a political reading of love in the region, to which the inputs of English-speaking cultural emotions history are gradually being added. © 2023 selection and editorial matter, Katie Barclay and Peter N.
