Resumen:

Humans learn in different ways. Such differences are palpable on individual preferences to different environments, methods and means by which they interact during learning. In addition to the different learning preferences, the information society has transformed the practices in various areas such as education. In such circumstances a difference in the perception and skills specific to each generation is present. So, it is advisable to integrate into ICT-based educational platforms, mechanisms to obtain learning resources (knowledge management) and applications used in education based on learning styles profile of the user and adapt that style in function of time. This article analyzes the current situation and proposes the development of a further investigation whose objectives are intended to support distance education, contributing to the acquisition of knowledge by the students according to their learning style and providing personalized content based upon their preferences and the availability of information on the Internet through an appropiate recommendation system. © 2016, International Institute of Informatics and Systemics, IIIS.
