Resumen:

Oseltamivir is used for the treatment of AH1N influenza virus infections. This drug has been considered by the Mexican Health Ministry as a first line treatment for swine influenza since an outbreak of a respiratory illness that was later proved to be caused by H1N1 (S-OIV) virus, a novel swine-origin influenza A. A retrospective study performed from 2009 to 2014 considered the effectiveness of different pharmacological treatments for influenza virus with oseltamivir being prominent among them. However, the pharmacological mechanism of the neuropsychiatric or adverse effects of oseltamivir in very young pediatric population still remains unclear. The present work suggests that the antiviral treatment choice and virus resistance to the most common anti-inflammatory drugs require research. Likewise, research works based on clinical trials in both human and animal models, and aimed at introducing new drugs with proven efficacy, safety and that are devoid of side effects for the treatment of influenza in pediatric population are required. © 2020 by Nova Science Publishers, Inc.
