Resumen:

Film festivals are part of a process of producing images that serve, both, for entertainment and for the reflection of audiences on specific issues, such as sustainability. This chapter explores how edutainment was used during Cinema Planeta, the first film festival in Morelos, Mexico. This exploration relies on two interviews (with the co-founder and director of the festival) and 171 pictures from the festival?s Facebook public fan page, from 2020 to 2021. The findings revealed the main edutainment activities carried out by the festival organisers were i) to include a film online platform, ii) to give rewards to the audience for participating in certain games, and iii) to give advice about daily behaviour according to the theme of the film. This case study helps to define, more precisely, the elements around the concept of edutainment and explores its relationship to engagement through Facebook within a film festival environment. © 2024 selection and editorial matter, Giulia Rossetti, Brianna Wyatt and Jane Ali-Knight; individual chapters, the contributors.
