Resumen:

Transportation analysts readily rely on computational methods and data analytics for the planning, design, and operations of transportation systems. The choice of method used is dependent upon the scope, associated issues, level of required details, and availability of resources, time, and data. Computational methods can be divided into two types: deterministic and stochastic methods. Deterministic methods are relatively easy to use, but they may overly simplify the representation of the phenomenon they are modeling. On the other hand, stochastic methods can represent the reality better, but may require high level of resources. Data analytics can be classified into descriptive, diagnostic, predictive, and prescriptive methods. © 2021 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved
