Resumen:

Patients with irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) commonly have a variety of gastrointestinal and extraintestinal manifestations. A twofold increase in these comorbidities has been reported. Gastrointestinal manifestations include gastroesophageal reflux, dyspepsia, functional constipation, fecal incontinence, and lactose intolerance. More recently, there has been increased attention paid to a possible relationship with disorders such as celiac disease and inflammatory bowel disease (Figure 25-1). In this chapter, I will address these common comorbid gastrointestinal disorders. © 2011 Taylor & Francis Group, LLC.
