Resumen:

Microneedles (MNs) have been harnessed as a new transdermal drug delivery platform for the treatment of various diseases. With the recent emerging development of nanomedicine, its application in this field has opened new avenues for efficient disease therapy, decreasing adverse effects. In this regard, recent studies using MN-encapsulated nanomaterials for transdermal delivery of therapeutic payloads for ocular therapy, cancer, delivery of genetic material, macromolecules, vaccines, cosmetics, and hormones are reviewed. © 2024 Elsevier Ltd.
