Resumen:

This chapter applies data envelopment analysis to estimate the performance of the healthcare system of 34 countries, members of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), setting a context to assess the Mexican case as an effort to identify the most important topics for improvements since Mexico is a country with one of the lowest numbers on life expectancy of the OECD. The output-oriented variable return-to-scale model was applied for ten health-related population indicators reported by 2022 or latest, categorized as five inputs and five outputs, which were adjusted by linear programming properties according to the expected behaviour on each. Complete results from this analysis are displayed, and discussion and conclusions are made in detail for Mexico. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2024.
