Resumen:

Social distancing by Covid-19 and some individual variables generated problems in romantic relationships, such as jealousy, because external stressors generated changes in the dynamics and stability of these relationships. The objective of our work was to identify the interaction of gender and relationship change by Covid-19, with respect to jealousy, in adults. The participants were 327 Mexican volunteers, aged between 18 and 74 years, who were in a romantic relationship. The Multidimensional Jealousy Scale and a questionnaire on social distancing by Covid-19 were administered online. A two-way ANOVA showed that the interaction between gender and relationship change had an effect on jealousy. In addition, main effects were found for both variables. These results provide further evidence on the phenomenon studied; thus, they can be taken up to create programs to decrease its negative effect on the Mexican population. © The Editor(s) (if applicable) and The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2023.
