Resumen:

One of the most complex problems to solve in the medical sector is the contamination and proliferation of highly pathogenic microorganisms associated with medical devices. These contaminated devices lead to severe complications that affect patient recovery, with harmful bacteria often finding the right conditions to proliferate. Therefore great resources have been dedicated to developing new strategies to inhibit material contamination by microorganisms and avoid their introduction to the environment and surroundings. Strategies for antibacterial proliferation include active coatings through the release of biocidal agents or passive ones through a coat to prevent surface contamination by repelling microorganisms, providing an effective solution for this problem in the medical sector. © 2025 Elsevier Ltd.
