Resumen:

In this chapter causality is approached from the perspective of clinical reasoning in medical practice. An overview of clinical reasoning is offered, following my own view: as a problem-solving cognitive activity in which two tasks are put forward to dictate a course of action toward the resolution of an individual case - a clinical judgment - causality is analyzed in both the philosophical (logical) and the medical perspectives concluding that in both of them causality appears as part of the (background) knowledge in the form of causal claims, thus showing these are used rather than produced. © 2025 selection and editorial matter, Phyllis Illari and Federica Russo.
