Resumen:

This chapter aims to contribute to the study of the priority of the resolution of hospital medical care acquired in Mexico City between the 1940s and the initial years of the 1960s, a time of intense modernization, innovation, and expansion of hospital spaces internationally. The axis articulating this work is the study of the crucial interaction and collaboration between doctors, architects, and administrators to materialize the hospital reform undertaken in Mexico since the 1940s. To that end, the collaborative efforts of those experts, their diagnoses and proposals, and the examination of some of the limitations they faced will be addressed. Furthermore, a vital purpose of the chapter is to transcend the inertia of a national narrative and to highlight the importance of transnational circulation and local adaptation of expert knowledge and technical assistance in hospital care and management. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2025.
