Resumen:

© 2026 selection and editorial matter, Tae-Hee Jo, Lynne Chester, and Carlo D?Ippoliti; individual chapters, the contributors. The current context is marked by pronounced turbulence in global geopolitics, especially between the allied countries of Russia, Iran, and China versus the bloc of countries within the Western hegemony?s orbit. Navigating the growing instability in the international economic (dis)order involves accepting the hypothesis that there are new challenges for the development of the Global South, and a gap is opening in the regional dynamics of the different areas that comprise it. Therefore, our objective is to reflect on the trajectories of Global South countries, drawing on a theoretical perspective that selectively merges key notions from the debate in international relations theory, the Post Keynesian Marxian discussion, and the contribution of Latin American structuralism. The text is organized into three parts. The first part presents a brief presentation of the adopted theoretical framework, followed by an analysis of the recent economic transformations experienced by Global South countries, supported by selected descriptive statistics. It concludes with a series of reflections on the challenges facing the economies of the Global South, with a particular focus on the main development challenges for African, South Asian, and Latin American regions.
