Resumen:

© 2026, IGI Global Scientific Publishing. This study analyzes the impact of automation and digitalization on employment through the lens of Skill- Biased Technological Change (SBTC), using the Toyota Guanajuato plant (TMMGT) as a case study. Using a qualitative methodology, the study identified an organizational strategy centered on internal relocation, continuous training, and upward mobility. This has allowed for the integration of new technologies without generating labor disruptions. The findings show that the employment effects of automation depend less on the technology itself and more on the organizational decisions that accompany its implementation. The TMMGT case exemplifies how a corporate culture focused on continuous improvement and human development can mitigate the exclusionary effects predicted by SBTC theory, enabling a more inclusive technological transition. This study contributes to the literature on digital transformation and employment in emerging economies. Future research should explore how organizational practices and institutional frameworks mediate the effects of technological change on work.
