Resumen:

The aim of this chapter is to better understand the key changes that need to be considered in the intricate relationship between finance, nature, and society within contemporary dependent capitalism. Based on an analysis of water use by transnational mining companies operating in Mexico, this chapter addresses how the new financialized regime of capital accumulation influences the natural resource governance model in peripheral countries. The text seeks to contribute to a deeper debate on the links between financialization, the behavior of non-financial corporations, neo-extractivism, and the redesign of center?periphery relations. © 2026 selection and editorial matter, Monika Meireles, Vania López, Elizabeth Concha, and Antonio Mendoza; individual chapters, the contributors.
