Resumen:

The Charcas district presents a complex overprint magmatic history. The swarm dykes consists predominantly of monzogranite, granodiorite and granite. They represent four distinctive magmatic pulses at ca. 157, 50, from 48 to 45 and 30 Ma. Field and petrographic observations suggest that the Lutetian and Rupelian magmatic events are related with the Zn and Ag-Pb mineralization respectively. The Ypresian magmatic event does not contribute to the metallic mineralization, but it is the source of damburite deposit worldwide famous. Major and trace element compositions point out an evolution of the granite origin from supracrustal (Ypresian) to infracrustal (Lutetian and Rupelian) in a post-orogenic extensional scenario. Only the magmatic events involving subduction magma in extension context are mineralizing.
